Success Labs Awards First LAB Grant to Salvation Army of Greater Baton Rouge

Success Labs is proud to announce that Salvation Army of Greater Baton Rouge has been selected as the first recipient of our Lead And Build “LAB” Grant, a new funding and community partnership awarded to local nonprofits serving the Baton Rouge area. The LAB Grant totals more than $1,500 for each partnership, which includes a $1,000 gift to be used at the nonprofit’s discretion, a hands-on project to enhance an existing space or function and $500 project seed money. These projects are implemented by participants of Success Labs’ leadership development training series that take place twice a year in the spring and fall. The grant is a formalization of a 15-year history of donating and partnering with local nonprofits to grow leaders and build community. For over a decade, Success Labs and its leadership development series participants have partnered with local nonprofits to improve or enhance the function and aesthetics of a space, and developed ideas to help them meet growth goals, increase brand awareness or align strategic initiatives to the organization’s mission and vision. Our partnership with the Salvation Army is already underway. This week a group of area business professionals participating in our Management Incubator visited the Salvation Army Community Center on West Brookstown Drive to restore and enhance several rooms that support after-school programs for at-risk local students. The business leaders are working to leverage additional community partnerships to upgrade technology in the study spaces, which include STEM-learning resources and other vital teaching assistance for students. They also plan to upgrade a music room at the facility to allow students to better utilize the space. In October, participants in our Leadership Coaching Series will work with the Salvation Army of Greater Baton Rouge on a detailed plan to help raise community awareness and funding to support the vital work the organization does in our community. Our series participants have previously had great success in helping local nonprofits raise awareness about their missions. For example, the popular Dancing For Big Buddy event was generated and presented to the organization by a past group of the Leadership Coaching Series."The Salvation Army is truly honored and excited to receive the Success Labs LAB Grant,” says Maj. Donald Tekautz of the Salvation Army of Greater Baton Rouge. “We cannot wait to see what the Leadership Series and Management Incubator participants create to enhance the learning environment for the children of our youth programs and how the changes to their environment improve their academic engagement and achievement — not only in our programs but in the classroom as well.”These projects give the participants and opportunity to apply new knowledge and practices to real-life projects that add value to the community. At Success Labs, we are grateful to be able to partner with organizations like the Salvation Army — and we look forward to continuing our work with community nonprofits moving forward.LAB Grant applications are now open.
